Hibiscus is also used in jam, jelly and salads. The flower is known for its detoxifying properties as it contains anthocyanins and antioxidants. It is said that consuming hibiscus in brewed form can lower blood pressure and cholesterol levels.
Banana flowers, also called banana blossom are a popular part of Asian cuisine. They are added to salads, curries, soups, stir-fries, stews and fritters. The banana bud has a shape of a petal or drop. The innermost soft leaves are edible and can be cooked and consumed. The banana flower is said to be extremely effective in treating infections. It is also beneficial for diabetics and is said to slow down the ageing process.
Lavender, with its beautiful violet shade and relaxing floral scent, is another flower that can be consumed. Lavender is widely used to make essential oils, shampoos, body washes and body butter. Apart from this, lavender can be used to garnish champagne as it infuses its distinct flavour into the drink. You can also use lavender in baking cakes and cookies. Lavender tea is also widely popular, as it soothes the nerves and relaxes you to the core.
Kachnar are pink and white coloured flowers that grow on trees and look very similar to cherry blossoms. Kachnar ki kali or kachnar ke phool are mostly used to make sabzi or curry. They are available in the market during the summer season and can also be used to make pakora, raita and are even added to certain chicken and mutton dishes.
These white coloured flowers not only smell heavenly but also taste amazing. Moringa flowers are usually used to make sabzi or curry, which is an absolute delight to have. You can use moringa flowers to make scrumptious pakoras, chutney and even smoothies. Moringa flowers offer some amazing health benefits as they fight against bacterial infections. Consuming moringa flowers nourishes your skin, protects your liver, boosts your vision, lowers sugar levels and also strengthens the immune system.
Not just zucchini, the flower it bears too can be consumed have some amazing benefits. You can make zucchini flower sabzi or use them to make fritters. Zucchini is good for your heart and the potassium it contains help reducing blood pressure. The magnesium in zucchini flowers regulates blood pressure as well.
