Everyone wants to lose weight, but nobody wants to spend the amount of time it requires to do it efficiently. Rather than going the straight way of eating right and exercising, most people look for shortcuts when it comes to weight loss. Cumin water, turmeric shots, honey lemon drink, there is no dearth of tricks on the internet that promises fat burn and quick weight loss result. Some of them work to some intensity, while others are just hollow promises. Another recent addition to this long weight loss trend is lemon coffee.
The trend of drinking coffee with lemon juice created quite a stir when a TikTok user suggested that it can help torch fat faster. Additionally, the drink is also believed to provide relief from headaches and diarrhoea. Let’s find out if there is any shred of truth in this claim.

Coffee and lemons are two commonly found ingredients in the pantry. Two of them are highly nutritious and have distinct health benefits. Even in terms of weight loss, both coffee and lemon are believed to be beneficial.

Coffee, which is one of the most widely consumed beverages contains caffeine that can speed up the metabolism, stimulates the central nervous system and increases alertness and mood. Lemons, on the other hand, promote fullness, increase satiety and reduce the amount of daily calorie intake. Lemons are also a great source of vitamin C and antioxidants that can prevent damage caused by free radicals.

It is true that both lemon and coffee are healthy, but neither of them can help you burn fat and fit in your old jeans. Adding lemon to the coffee may reduce appetite and speed up metabolism, but burning fat seems a little difficult.

Losing fat isn’t an easy task, which can be achieved just by drinking lemon water. Our body undergoes several changes when we lose weight efficiently. You sleep peacefully at night, the likelihood of getting other diseases decreases, your mood improves and you feel fitter.
Lemon coffee is also believed to provide relief from headaches and also boost digestion, however, there are a lot of contradicting studies on this issue. Some studies suggest that caffeine does have a vasoconstrictor effect (it tightens your blood vessels) which provides relief from headache, while others argue that excess caffeine intake can be a reason for headache.

Even in the case of diarrhoea, there is no clear study that can highlight how the drink can boost digestive health. When suffering from diarrhoea it is recommended to have solid foods to bulk up the stool. Drinking lemon coffee is not a good idea.
Due to a lack of evidence, claimed benefits of drinking lemon coffee cannot be verified. More research is needed in this area.
It is clear that there are not many benefits of making your coffee citric by adding lemon juice to it. If you still want to try it there are a few things you must keep in which preparing your cup of lemon coffee. Only add lemon juice to black coffee, not to the milk one. To balance the citric taste, add a little salt to it, but avoid sugar at all costs. Also, try not to have more than one cup of lemon coffee in a day. Along with this, you need to follow your diet and exercise routine to lose weight.
